Second course in the administrator series will guide through a step-by-step planning process within the key elements needed to create quality digital learning programs.

This course digs deeper into the planning stages for blended learning from the foundation understandings when planning for quality: 1) content, 2) teaching, 3) technology, and 4) operations. Participants will begin taking inventory and start planning a quality blended learning program for their schools.

Topics include:

  • Examining your goals, priorities, and expectations for building a blended learning environment in your building
  • Instructional changes needed when creating a blended learning program
  • Organized strategic planning process
  • Plan for essential elements to build a quality blended learning program
  • Create a timeline for roll-outing of each of the four focus area within your project plan

 

Duration: 7-9 hours
Time Frame: 4 weeks (suggested)
Audience: K-12 administrators
Course Format: Independent Study
Independent Study (IS) courses are self-directed and do not have a course instructor. Participants will:

  • Manage your own learning experience through pacing and completion
  • Set goals and define what is worthwhile for you to learn
  • Take initiative and responsibility for your own learning
  • Keep a reflective journal to process new knowledge
  • Utilize the discussion board to share thoughts and projects with others 

Participants will have access to the course for three months.

 

Learning Modules: This course is divided into three learning modules which contain lessons, discussions, check for understanding interactives, and assessments. Estimated times for each module is provided below. Four weeks is suggested to complete the course.

Module 1 – Casting Your Vision
Time: Approximately 2 hours

  • Recognize blended learning terms.
  • Examine your goals, priorities, and expectations for building a blended learning environment in your building.
  • Identify the key figures for your blended learning task force.

Module 2 – Quality Content and Teaching
Time: Approximately 2.5 hours

  • Recognize the four focus areas to designing a quality blended learning program.
  • Examine components and resources needed for quality content and teaching.
  • List action steps and identify responsible personnel within your project plan.

Module 3 – Technology and Operations
Time: Approximately 2.5 hours

  • Timeline the events within your project plan.
  • Examine components and resources needed for technology and operations.
  • List action steps and identify responsible personnel within your project plan.
